Today Union Minister for Tribal affairs Shri Juel Oram and Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas Shri Dharmendra Pradhan called on Union Minister for Road Transport Shri Nitin Gadkari to discuss on Brahmani bridge, construction of which has become a cause of concern for the people of Rourkela and adjacent areas. They took up the cause with Gadkariji and conveying the concerns of the people of Rourkela over the delayed procedure in building the bridge. Thankfully, a positive outcome emerged from the meeting as Gadkariji assured of a time bound plan to complete the project. He assured that the contract of work will be awarded in January after completion of all processes and the construction will commence after April, 2017.
Besides, the Minister has assured to scale up the project as existing construction plan will be replaced by a broader modified plan. The new bridge which was planned to be expanded into four lanes will have two additional lanes making it a six lane bridge. The new bridge combined with the renovated existing bridge will have eight lanes effectively, enabling faster and smoother communications and transportation.
