Illegal Occupying Government Quarter by MLAs

Answering to BJP MLA Dillip Ray’s question, Chief Minister Naven Pattnaik informed the Odisha Assembly that, 3 former ministers and 6 former MLAs who are not members of the present Odisha Assembly are still occupying the government quarters. Other than them, Deputy Speaker of the Assembly, Opposition leader, Government Chief Whip and Congress chief whip, 4 ministers, and 8 MLAs are occupying more than one government quarters.

The CM further informed that, the government has written letter to the Assembly Secretary to vacate the additional government quarters of the Deputy Speaker Sadanand Marandi, Opposition Leader Narasingh Mishra, Government Chief Whip Ananta Das, 4 Ministers; Ashok Chandra Panda, Bikram Keshari Arukh, Jogendra Behera, and Pradeep Panigrahi. Along with the above Tara Prasad Bahinipati, Bhujabala Majhi, Nrusingha Charan Sahu, Prafulla Majhi, Subrat Tarai, Subal Sahu, Rabi Narayan Nayak, Ramesh Patua also occupying acquired GA houses along with MLAs quarters. Another MLA Maheswar Mohanty occupying 2 quarters in the MLA colony.

While a few leaders are having more than one house, yet 7 MLAs haven’t got any government quarters. Nitish Gangadeo, Saroj Kumar Samal, Sanatan Mahakur, Chandrasarathi Behera, Chiranjib Biswal, Purnachandra Nayak, Rajendra Kumar Sahu, Dilip Ray, and Naveen Patnaik haven’t got government quarters.

Three former ministers, Sarojini Hembram, Pradipta Kumar Nayak and Ramachandra Hansda are facing court cases for not vacating the government quarters. Other leaders who are facing court cases are, Pratap Chandra Sarangi, Rajendra Dholkia, Rabi Mallick, and Alekh Kumar jena.
